Theresa Rivera
Ma. Theresa M. Rivera is a Communication for Development (C4D) and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) specialist, with more than 25 years of experience in the Philippines and in other parts of Asia. She worked on Communication for Development (C4D) projects for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, USAID, UN-World Food Program (WFP), UN-International Labor Organization and UNICEF on areas of natural resource management, governance for local democracy, disaster preparedness and response, Maternal and child health, road safety and nutrition programs in the Philippines. As a Professor of Communication and researcher, she conducted qualitative research on, among others, resettlement and livelihood restoration, youth participation in governance, and maternal, and neonatal health resulting in the development of knowledge products, participatory training modules, and SBC plans for integration in local government financing, production, and management. She is also an Associate Editor of Media Asia, the journal of the Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC). Theresa holds a PhD in Communication, from the University of the Philippines, and spent her dissertation fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA. She is a University Research Fellow for Communication and also a Professor at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines.
